Subaru Canada is offering a CA$10,000 (~$8,000) discount on 2020 model year or newer vehicles that customers will convert into rally cars.

To be eligible, shoppers must have a valid Canada Rally Championship license and must purchase the vehicle through an authorized Canadian Subaru dealership. The vehicle must also be converted to rally specifications as per guidelines issued by the Canadian Rally Championship (CRC).

A number of significant modifications must be made to meet CRC requirements. For example, cars with forced induction engines must have an air inlet of 34 mm or less and some are also required to use a pop-off valve that limits boost. Competitors are given free reign over things such as brakes, transmission, suspension, and cooling systems. Things like a roll cage, safety harnesses, fire extinguishers, and racing seats are also a requirement.

To apply for the CA$10,000 rebate, customers will need to supply Subaru Canada with a copy of the sales contract, the VIN of the vehicle, and a copy of a valid CRC license. A one-time payment of CA$10,000 will then be paid to the registered owner within 90 days.

The program is available from April 1, 2021, through to March 31, 2022, but crucially, the program is limited to just seven total vehicles per year. The program also cannot be combined with any other existing Subaru offers. The automaker also notes that new vehicles modified for rally racing will void their warranty.
