The latest generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 (992) is one of the most track-capable sportscars money can buy. However, there is always room for improvement, especially if the upgrades are coming from Manthey Racing which has just launched a tuning package specifically designed for the GT3.

The kit brings upgrades on the aerodynamics, suspension, and brakes, together with a new set of wheels, destined to make the GT3 even faster around the track. Stefan Mages, head of development, admitted that improving the performance of the new model was a big challenge, but they managed to do that “without making too many changes to the car’s essential DNA”.

Starting with the exterior design, the aerodynamic package includes a new front splitter, additional canards on the front bumper, a redesigned rear wing made of carbon, and a tweaked rear diffuser. Additionally, the team chose a set of Manthey’s OM-1 rims finished in gold, with aerodiscs on the rear axle. Most importantly, the kit includes Manthey’s 4-way adjustable suspension kit, a braided brake line set, and new brake pads contributing to better handling.

The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six remains stock since it is not something people would like to change. The mill revs up to 9,000 rpm and produces 502 hp and 469 Nm (346 lb-ft) of torque. Like in every GT3, power is sent to the rear axle through either a seven-speed PDK, or an optional six-speed manual.

Naturally, the development included many laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Nicolas Raeder, managing director of Manthey-Racing GmbH, suggests, said that he can’t wait to see how fast the car will be with their performance kit since the stock GT3 is already a full 17 seconds faster than its predecessor at the Green Hell. However, the company didn’t want to ruin the character of the model stating that it remains “suitable for everyday use, enabling customers to make relaxed trips to track days”.

Similar to Manthey Racing’s GT3 RS and GT2 RS of the previous 991 generation, the 992 GT3 retains the manufacturer’s warranty after the upgrades have been installed. For those who are interested, the tuning kit will be available in the second quarter of 2022, while pricing hasn’t been disclosed yet.
