Sure, some all-electric hypercars may have snatched some attention away from the Bugatti Chiron but make no mistake, the ‘Bug is an absolute beast, as this video proves.

We all know that the Chiron is powered by a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter V16 and according to Bugatti, it delivers 1,478 hp and 1,180 lb-ft (1,599 Nm) of torque. Eager to see if those figures are accurate, Cannonball Garage in Gilberts, Illinois recently strapped a Chiron onto their dyno for a series of power runs.

The Chiron in question is particularly striking thanks to its lovely black and blue two-tone paint scheme and actually strapping it to the dyno wasn’t easy. Speaking with The Drive, the owner of the shop said his crew first had to remove the huge undertray from the French hypercar. Huge care also had to be taken when lining the car up on the dyno as the rollers on the dyno were only 81-inches wide while the car itself is 80 inches wide.

While the first video of the dyno run is a little over-edited for our tastes, it shows the Bugatti churning out 1,369 hp and 1,163 lb-ft (1,576 lbs) of torque at the wheels while running on 93 octane fuel. These figures suggest that the Chiron’s almighty W16 engine may actually have slightly more grunt than the company claims it does.
