The 2022 Genesis G80 range has just been updated in Australia with the launch of the Sport and Sport line variants.

Genesis has been selling the current G80 in Australia since late 2020 and has updated the range for the 2022 model year. Most notably, the entry-level 2.5-liter model is now available with a Sport Line package while the 3.5-liter model is offered with the full-blown Sport package.

Starting with the 2022 G80 2.5T, it features a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300 hp (224 kW) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque that drives the rear wheels. The Sport Line package then adds Road Preview Electronically Controlled Suspension, larger brakes with four-piston monobloc front calipers, 20-inch wheels, and updated exterior and interior styling.

As for the 2022 G80 3.5T Sport, it rocks a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 packing 374 hp (279 kW) and 390 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. This variant is sold exclusively with all-wheel drive and adopts the same additional features as the 2.5T Sport Line, as well as rear-wheel steering, Active Road Noise Control, a Sport+ drive mode, and launch control.

The Sport Line and Sport models feature the same styling updates that include a revised front fascia with enlarged air intakes, a dark chrome front grille, dark chrome highlights, and a redesigned rear bumper with new dual tailpipes. Both the Sport Line and Sport packages cost AU$6,000 ($4,335).

Aussie customers not interested in either the Sport Line or Sport models can instead order both the 2.5T and 3.5T models with the AU$13,000 ($9,392) Luxury Package. This adds features like Forward Attention Warning, Intelligent Front-Lighting System, Nappa-leather appointed interior, suede headlining, Smart Parking Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist, 18-way driver and front passenger seats, 3-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, and a rear wireless phone charger.

“With new Sport and Sport Line variants and an enhanced Luxury Package, 2022 G80 builds on the model’s renowned Athletic Elegance,” Genesis Motors Australia chief executive Ted Lee said in a statement. “2022 G80 gives every customer additional safety, style and convenience features, to create an even more enticing sports luxury sedan package.”

Genesis Australia expects 40 per cent of G80 customers to opt for the Sport Line or Sport packages. Local pricing for the 2.5T model starts at AU$86,000 ($62,135) while the 3.5T kicks off at AU$102,000 ($73,695).
