Maserati Grecale Modena Is An Online Exclusive Launch Edition Designed To Make Your Porsche-Driving Neighbors Take Note

A new car reveal wouldn’t be complete without the announcement of a launch edition model designed to part you from more money than you had planned to spend, and Maserati’s Grecale Modena Limited Edition fits that bill.

Available to order for U.S. and Canada only via online reservation, because as we all know, Maserati dealers are rushed off their feet and wouldn’t have a chance of coping with the extra footfall if you actually went inside, the limited edition model is named after Maserati’s home city in Italy and promises special combinations of paint and equipment not available on regular models.

Available in a choice of Bianco (white), Nero Tempesta (black), Blu Intesno (blue), Grigio Lava (gray) or Rosso Granturismo (red), the cars each come with 21-inch Pegaso machine-polished wheels, adaptive air suspension with Skyhook damping, a 14-speaker Sonus faber hifi, and a panoramic roof.

Other equipment includes heated seats, adaptive cruise control, active blind spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assistance, plus a limited-slip differential to help the mild-hybrid, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine put down its 325 hp (330 PS). That’s 29 hp more than same engine delivers in the base Grecale, and despite torque being unchanged at 332 lb-ft (450 Nm), enables the Modena to get to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.3, rather than 5.6 seconds.

That makes it considerably slower than the range-topping Trofeo, which uses a modified version of the MC20 supercar’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6, and pumps out 530 PS (523 hp) at 6,500 rpm and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) from 3,000 to 5,500 rpm for a 3.8-second zero to 62 mph time.

Maserati isn’t saying exactly how limited the Modena Limited Editions will be, or how much you’ll have to pay to get one, but we do know that online reservations require a $500 refundable deposit to your preferred Maserati dealership and that the first cars should be ready for delivery in Fall 2022.
