The E28-generation BMW 5-Series may be over 40 years old but where’s a will there’s a way as demonstrated by the owner of this particular example.

This beautifully-shot video appears to have been filmed in Poland and shows the driver of the modified 5-Series performing some wild powerslides in the car, all while driving on public roads. It goes without saying that the kind of driving on display is completely illegal and very dangerous, not just for the driver but also the spectators that can be seen standing on the side of the street at some points. With this being said, it is still fun to watch.

We’re not sure exactly what variant of the E28 5-Series this is but it has been fitted with a V8 engine, among many other modifications. The car has also been equipped with a hydraulic handbrake, allowing the owner to easily kick out the car’s tail and go sideways.

The film looks to have been put together in the middle of the night when there were very few cars on the road and during it, the driver expertly threads together drifts on straight sections of road, through intersections, and along highway on-ramps and off-ramps.

Beyond the obvious performance modifications that have been made to the E28, it has also been adorned in a new lick of paint, has been lowered, and sits on a set of aftermarket wheels.

There’s no doubt that the driver knows what he is doing but in the future, it’d probably be a good idea for him to start competing in sanctioned drifting events in the E28, rather than driving like this on the street.
