Bugatti announced a few days ago that it has begun deliveries on the first Chiron Super Sport models. One of the first, highlighted by the company, was created with the help of its personalization service to feature a paint job named “Vagues de Lumiere.”

The name is French for “waves of light” and refers to the intricate orange striping that highlights the blue background color. The hand-painted pattern is intended to imitate the way light reflects off the bodywork of the car, whose every surface has been shaped with aerodynamics in mind.

That’s important for the Super Sport, in particular, since it’s one of Bugatti’s fastest models. The bodywork, in concert with the 8.0-liter, 16-cylinder, 1,578 hp (1,177 kW/1,600 PS) engine allow it to reach 440 km/h (273 mph) with ease, the automaker says.

A slightly toned down but more luxurious version of the Chiron Super Sport 300+, the Chiron Super Sport was unveiled in June 2021, following an intense, multi-year development effort to make it as stable as it is fast.

“It’s extremely exciting to be witnessing the first customer units of the Chiron Super Sport come together within our Atelier,” said Christophe Piochon, president of Bugatti. “The experience of driving a Chiron Super Sport cannot be compared to anything else the automotive industry has to offer, and we very much look forward to our customers covering many unforgettable miles behind the wheel.”

If seeing this Chiron Super Sport has inspired you to buy your own and personalize it, you’re too late. All build slots have been spoken for and there is even an extensive waiting list of people hoping to pick up any canceled orders.
