The 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 of the Lamborghini Aventador is regarded as one of the finest combustion engines out there and if you’re in the market for a very expensive coffee table or perhaps an engine for a wild project car, this one might do the trick.

This Aventador S engine is currently up for sale in Lonsdale, Australia with an asking price of AU$99,999, the equivalent of US$74,544. The eBay listing notes that the engine has 10,324 km (6,415 miles) on it and comes complete with the intake manifold, throttle bodies, wiring harness, fuse box, power steering pump, exhaust manifolds, and coils. What it doesn’t come with is the Aventador’s seven-speed ISR transmission.

You can buy a very nice car for AU$99,999 so who is going to spend that much on a Lamborghini engine? Well, it’s certainly possible the engine could be purchased by someone who already owns an Aventador and needs a new engine. A high-end mechanic could also purchase the engine if they have a client needing a new powertrain for their Italian supercar.

Then there’s the intriguing possibility (albeit unlikely) that someone will buy the engine to use in a project car. It’s a big engine but could be squeezed into the engine bay of some pretty ordinary cars with the right tools and a bit of determination.

It’s not uncommon for supercar engines to be listed up for sale on eBay. A quick browse shows plenty of other engines currently up for grabs, including the engine from a Ferrari Portofino with a $54,995 asking price, the engine of a McLaren 720S costing $49,500, a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta engine commanding $49,000, and a complete V12 and transmission from a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 available for $41,500.
