The 2023 BMW M3 Touring will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month and has been spied testing at the Nurburgring once again ahead of its official debut.
This particular prototype was snapped by YouTuber Automotive Mike during a recent Industry Pool day at the famed German circuit. While it doesn’t show the M3 Touring being driven as part of its record-setting 7:35.060 timed lap of the ‘Ring, the person behind the wheel clearly wasn’t holding back during this particular testing session.

BMW is expected to sell the M3 Touring exclusively in Competition guise complete with all-wheel drive. That means it will feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine pumping out 503 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque and it should have very similar performance numbers to the sedan, potentially hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and reaching a 180 mph (290 km/h) top speed.
Obviously, the soundtrack of the engine and exhaust is quite muted compared to previous generations of the M3, but that’s no surprise given the ongoing clampdown of loud exhausts and the need to comply with the latest legislation. Despite the lack of a thrilling sound, the M3 Touring does look very composed on the racetrack, taking corners with poise and surprisingly little body roll given its size and weight.
The M3 Touring will look pretty much the same as the sedan, excluding the obvious fact that it is an estate. As such, the front fascia will be identical to the four-door model. The interior will also be largely the same, although we do know that it will feature BMW’s new Curved Display, which is being rolled out to various new BMW models.
