Aston Martin’s Formula 1 team is in all kinds of trouble on the racetrack, so much so that it’d probably be better off racing the Valkyrie AMR Pro than its current AMR22 F1 car. Indeed, Aston Martin once claimed the ultimate version of the Valkyrie would be capable of matching an F1 car around a racetrack.

Customer deliveries of the car kicked off a few months ago and the British marque has been bringing Valkyrie AMR Pro models to various racetracks to show just what it is capable of. Recently, a handful of AMR Pros were brought to Laguna Seca and some very fortunate individuals had the chance to ride shotgun in it. It didn’t prove to be as fast as an F1 car but it’s certainly very quick.

Among those who went for the ride of their lifetime in the Aston Martin was Evan Lewis from the AerialAutomotive channel on YouTube. Lewis’s clips includes some brutal onboard footage of the car, as well as some exterior shots, giving us the opportunity to experience just how fast it is and how remarkable it sounds.

Aston Martin has yet to record an official lap time at Laguna Seca but one of these videos does include a complete onboard lap of the circuit, which the car completed in approximately 1:19 or 1:20. That’s much faster than the 1:25.44 of the Czinger 21C and the 1:27.62 of the McLaren Senna. However, it’s not quite as fast as current Daytona Prototype international (DPi) race cars that can lap the circuit in around 1:15, nor would it be anywhere near what a Formula 1 car could do.

Lap time aside, it’s hard not to be impressed by the Valkyrie AMR Pro, particularly since it features a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 churning out 1,000 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. This engine isn’t just powerful but it also sounds truly magnificent and lacks the hybrid system of the street-legal Valkyrie.
