Hyundai Australia has revised the Ioniq 5 range for the 2022 model year.

The local Hyundai Ioniq 5 family now consists of the 2022 Ioniq 5 Dynamiq and the Ioniq 5 Techniq. Prices for the rear-wheel drive Dynamiq start at AU$69,900 ($47,042) while the Techniq is available from AU$77,500 ($52,167).

The most significant update made to the 2022 Ioniq 5 is the inclusion of Hyundai’s Augmented Reality Head-Up Display. This system is offered in other markets but wasn’t found on models initially sold in Australia. There is also a new Vehicle-to-Load function in the cabin that allows owners to charge their devices and appliances from inside.

Elsewhere, the entry-level Ioniq 5 Dynamiq has been equipped with new 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Primacy 4 tires. These new wheels have seen the WLTP range increase to 481 km (299 miles) for the rear-wheel drive powertrain and 430 km (267 miles) for the all-wheel drive powertrain.

No changes have been made under the skin. As such, the Ioniq 5 continues to be underpinned by the carmaker’s E-GMP architecture that supports 400V and 800V charging infrastructures. Powering the RWD Dynamiq is a single 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor with 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque while the AWD Techniq sports a 155 kW (208 hp) rear electric motor and a 70 kW (94 hp) front electric motor, resulting in a combined 225 kW (302 hp) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft).

Beyond benefiting from added power and performance, the Ioniq 5 AWD Techniq has some features not found in the RWD Dynamiq. These include an under-bonnet insulator, 20-inch wheels with wider 255/45 Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires, premium relaxation seats, memory seats up front and at the rear, 2-way power adjustable rear seats, rear door sunshades, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats. It is also offered with a panoramic glass roof.

“We are proud to introduce the upgraded 2022 IONIQ 5 in highly equipped RWD DYNAMIQ and AWD TECHNIQ grades,” Hyundai Australia chief executive Ted Lee said in a statement. “Our flagship IONIQ 5 EV continues to offer an attractive zero-emission battery-electric experience that’s made even more compelling with additional features and a choice of variants.”
