Gran Turismo 7 Adds Ayrton Senna’s 1988 McLaren MP4/4 And 1969 Pontiac GTO ‘The Judge’ With Update 1.20

Polyphony studios today announced a series of new additions for Gran Turismo 7. Update 1.20 will see four new cars and three new racetrack layouts added to the popular PlayStation title.

The first and perhaps most exciting car added to the game will be the 1988 McLaren MP4/4. A legend in its own time, the Gordon Murray and Steve Nichols-designed Formula 1 car was dominant with Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna at the wheel.

Powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter V6 Honda engine that could make between 650 and 700 hp (485-522 kW/659-710 PS), the MP4/4 won 15 of the 16 races it ran in the 1988 Formula 1 season, easily taking the Constructors’ and Drivers’ championships.

Fans of muscle cars, meanwhile, will be happy to see that the 1969 Pontiac GTO “The Judge” has been added to the game’s roster of cars. At the time, the package cost $332 ($2,680 accounting for inflation) and included unique decals, a Hurst shifter, heavy-duty suspension, wider tires, and a rear spoiler. The engine was upgraded to the 6.6-liter “Ram Air III” V8, which was listed at 360 hp (268 kW/365 PS), though rumor had it that was a very conservative estimate.

Fans of more modern performance cars, meanwhile, will be treated to a 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4. Powered by the 3.8-liter flat-six from a 911 Carrera S, it made 379 hp (283 kW/384 PS) and featured brakes and suspension components from the 991-gen 911 GT3.

Finally, Gran Turismo has turned towards the world of fashion for its last addition. The De Tomaso Mangusta (Christian Dior) has been given the once over by Kim Jones, the artistic director of Dior men’s collections.

Unveiled earlier this month, the English fashion designer has adorned the legendary model with a livery that combines a creamy beige body color with chic stripes and Dior’s name on the side. The racing number 47, meanwhile, is a reference to the design house’s first show, which occurred in 1947. It also comes with a yellow racing suit complemented by Dior’s trademark gray.

The updates don’t end with the cars, though. The Circuit de Barcelona will also get three new layouts. These include the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP Layout No Chicane, which edits out the track’s final chicane, making its final sector a higher-speed test of aerodynamics.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya National Layout shortens the track, cutting out much of sectors one and two. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross Layout, finally, adds a dirt element to the track, making it more of a test for rallycross vehicles.

Finally, new menus have been added to the Cafe section of the game, which allow players to create new car collections based on a variety of themes. Two new menu books (Abarth collection and GR.2 Racing Cars) have been added to the game as well.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.20 will go live on August 24 at 11:00 pm PDT (2:00 am EDT).
