The Mercedes-Benz Vito/Viano/V-Class family of vans is quite popular for comping, especially in the factory-spec Marco Polo guise. However, tuners always get the chance to go a little bit further when it comes to modifications, and that is what Vansports did with the rugged Vito VP Gravity Geotrec Edition.

The model is similar to the V-Class GeoTrec from 2020, but this time it is based on the Vito; more specifically, the 119 CDI 4×4 trim with a twin-turbo 2.1-liter diesel engine producing 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox and the stock 4WD system.

The most important modification is the new suspension springs and off-road shock absorbers, alongside the all-terrain General Grabber tires measuring 235/55 R18. Those bring greater traction in all kinds of terrain, enhancing the off-road credentials of the van.

The 18-inch Vansports Kiruna alloy wheels are finished in matte bronze on the left side and in black on the right side, highlighting the personalization options. For protection against rocks and other types of obstacles, Vansports added front and rear skid plates, fender add-ons, and steel sidebars. The plastic elements are coated in a special Protector paint, which according to the tuner “withstands prickly bushes and flying stones”. Furthermore, the van got stylized topographic stickers on the bodywork, highlighting its adventurous nature.

Besides the off-road-focused add-ons, the Vito has plenty of features suitable for camping, including a lifting roof, a new heating system, special furniture inside the cabin, a sink, a compressor cool box, an outdoor shower, and an additional battery for powering up the amenities. Vansports said that this specific vehicle is currently offered for sale, although they didn’t specify pricing. Browsing on their website, we found similar Vito-based conversions priced at €81,872 ($84,830).
