Mercedes’ lineup of Marco Polo vans has proven popular with outdoor enthusiasts and now the T-Class is getting the treatment.

However, this isn’t a full conversion as Mercedes is offering a Marco Polo “camping module” that is produced by Brabus and available ex factory. This means existing owners can convert their vans into a micro camper.

Set to go up for order later this year, the Marco Polo camping module comes with a “bed unit” that features a 4 inch (10 cm) thick mattress which promises to comfortably accommodate two people. The sleeping space is collapsible and measures 78.7 inches long by 45.2 inches wide (2 by 1.15 meters).

Besides the bed, buyers will find ventilated panels with insect screens that can be installed in the front windows. Other highlights include “blackout elements for all window panes” and rear pillar storage compartments.

Customers looking to do some serious camping will want to purchase the optional kitchen unit. It features a sink and 3.2 gallon (12 liter) water tank as well as a small refrigerator and a gas-cartridge stove. Buyers will also find soft-close drawers, two camping chairs, and a table that can be used both inside and outside the vehicle.

Mercedes says the bed and kitchen units can be installed or removed by two people in a “few minutes,” and this means you can have a traditional vehicle during the workweek and a “micro camper” on the weekend. If this isn’t your cup of tea, Mercedes teased a “fully integrated micro camper” will arrive in the second half of 2023.
