The €16.7 million ($16.5 million) Bugatti La Voiture Noire is one of the most expensive cars ever conceived and given its value, one could excuse its owner for locking it away in a climate-controlled garage and never driving it. That’s not what they’ve done, however.

The insane creation recently took part in a Supercar Owners Circle event in Croatia where it was driven throughout the country, both on public roads and at an airstrip. It is quite a remarkable sight to behold and we think the owner should be applauded for letting the world see the one-off hypercar.

Shortly after the La Voiture Noire was unveiled to the world back in 2019, rumors ran rife about who the owner was. Some reports claimed it was purchased by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo while others speculated it was picked up by former Volkswagen chairman Ferdinand Piech. However, the couple driving the car throughout this video are likely the real owners.

Bugatti took inspiration from the Type 57 SC Atlantic in designing the La Voiture Noire. While it is based around the ‘regular’ Chiron, the bodywork is all-new and dramatically different than any other Bugatti. The significant changes start at the front end where there is distinctive bodywork with new LED headlights and a hood with lots of little holes.

Arguably the most striking area of the La Voiture Noire is its rear. For starters, there are no less than six prominent tailpipes and the car also rocks a full-width LED light bar.

Found beneath the skin is the same 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine as the Chiron, pumping out 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque.

There’s no doubt that the La Voiture Noire is special. However, do you think it is worth $16.5 million? After all, that makes it more than triple the price of a Bugatti Bolide, a car that is much more extreme and which has undergone far more alterations when compared to the Chiron.
