The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is a big deal for the Japanese car manufacturer and while it looks quite purposeful in standard guise, a couple of small changes can really overhaul its appearance.
Mazda has designed the CX-90 specifically for the North American market, equipping it with three rows and the most powerful petrol engine it has ever built. It’s barely been a day since its unveiling and already, Instagram artist Kelsonik has imagined it with some modifications.
In altering the SUV, the designer has dropped the ride height which drastically overhauls the stance of the CX-90, making it appear much more purposeful and works wonders on the overall design. It has also been rendered with blacked-out accents, such as the front grille surround, side window surrounds, and rocker panels.

Kelsonik has then designed two different wheels for the CX-90. We’re particularly fond of the tightly-spoked rims fitted to the dark red CX-90 and think that in combination with the black accents, it looks really tough. That’s not a description of a Mazda you hear very often.
As a reminder, the flagship petrol engine of the CX-90 takes the form of a 3.3-liter turbocharged mill with 340 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. This engine also has a small electric motor placed between the engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission. Mazda will also sell the CX-90 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery pack. This variant has a combined 323 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm). The vehicle’s all-electric range and charging times haven’t been announced.
