If you own a midsize pickup and you always wanted a campervan, you can get pretty close to the experience thanks to an aftermarket option by Scout Campers. The entry-level Tuktut product is a lightweight living area module that can sleep two adults.

The Scout Campers Tuktut is compatible with a wider range of models like the Ford Maverick and pretty much every midsize truck with a 5-feet box including the Jeep Gladiator, Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, and GMC Canyon. The frame is made of 6063 Aluminum alloy with T6 tempering and the body is made from gel coat fiberglass, allowing it to be strong, corrosion-resistant, and lightweight, tipping the scales at 634 lbs (288 kg).

This $16.5k Module Turns Mid-Sized Pickups Into Campers

The module has a 72.25-inch (1,835 mm) interior height, a 41.5-inch (1,054 mm) interior, and a 62-inch (1,575 mm) floor length. The compact dimensions mean that you won’t get motorhome levels of comfort by any means, but the minimalist design of the configurable cabin makes it easily adaptable to your needs.

The Tuktut can sleep two adults but there is room for extra children or pets with the help of aftermarket customization. Besides the bunk bed and the benches, there are storage solutions by Goose Gear and space for camping equipment like a kitchenette or a mini-fridge. The cabin is accessible from a rear door with an integrated glass window. Two more thermal pane windows on the sides with blinds, and a roof panel make sure there is enough light and ventilation.

The Tuktut is the smallest and cheapest offering by Scout Campers, starting at $16,500 and reaching up to $19,385 if you choose the removable camper jacks, bilateral bed rail runners, and porta ledge bunk extension (80″ sleeping length and multifunctional storage solution) which are all the only available extras. The company is already accepting orders with the first deliveries scheduled for the third quarter of 2023.
