The Discovery Sport is getting some much needed love as Land Rover has taken the wraps off the 2024 model.

While the luxury crossover is instantly recognizable, it sports a classier and more high-tech cabin. Drivers sit behind a three-spoke steering wheel and find themselves looking at a newly standard digital instrument cluster. In the center is a floating, curved 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system that sports Amazon Alexa and wireless Apple CarPlay as well as an easier layout that “allows users to access 90 percent of tasks within two taps from the home screen.”

The updates don’t end there as the crossover has a “redesigned and simplified center console” with a new gear selector as well as dark anodized aluminum trim. The center stack has also been revamped as physical switchgear has been jettisoned.

Elsewhere, there’s a newly standard wireless smartphone charger and a new Cabin Air Purification Plus system. The latter features “PM2.5 filtration and CO2 management” as well as “nanoe X technology to combat pathogens and help significantly reduce odors, bacteria and allergens.”

That’s the gist of the updates, but Land Rover noted buyers can choose from an assortment of upholstery options including classic Windsor leather as well as Suedecloth and a Luxtec material that is made from recycled polyester microfiber. The company went on to note the Discovery Sport offers seating for up to seven as well as 63.4 cubic feet (1,794 liters) of luggage room.

While the interior updates are welcome, the exterior largely carries over. However, the Discovery Sport S gains a new gloss black grille and the color palette now includes Varesine Blue. Buyers will also find updated 19- and 21-inch wheels.

In the United States, the 2024 Discovery Sport will start at $48,900 which is $700 more than its predecessor. It features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder developing 246 hp (183 kW / 249 PS) and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque. The engine enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in as little as 7.3 seconds.

Customers in other markets will find additional variants including a plug-in hybrid Discovery Sport P300e, which features a new battery chemistry that increases the “expected real-world electric range” up to 29 miles (47 km). Land Rover said that’s “enough to do 90 percent of average daily journeys in hushed electric driving mode.”
