During the launch of the all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton / L200 in Thailand, the automaker showcased the extent of personalization options that will be available for the new pickup thanks to an array of accessories. In total, Mitsubishi brought 14 examples of the new Triton on the exhibition floor including two production-spec trims, Ralliart’s rally-prepped truck, and various off-road builds.

The most eye-catching and unusual Triton was the sports truck. Despite being based on the short-cab bodystyle, it looks like a member of the Fast & Furious fleet or something that came out of the NFS Underground universe. Visual modifications include a wide bodykit with carbon fiber bits, and aerodynamic extensions for the bumpers, fenders, and side skirts. The prominent splitter, roof-mounted spoiler, vented fenders, and diffuser were clearly designed for the track, as with the five-spoke alloy wheels shod in Advan tires.

Mitsubishi didn’t mention any performance modifications, although it is clear that the Triton rides on a significantly lowered suspension and has larger brakes. The most powerful version of the production model comes fitted with a 2.4-liter turbodiesel producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 470 Nm (347 lb-ft) of torque. This is not enough to justify the aggressive stance, but there are always aftermarket tuning options for more power.

In the official walk-around video, the presenter said that their goal with the sporty truck was to “encourage and inspire people to pimp up their all-new Triton”. Pickup owners in Thailand and other Asian markets are known for their tuned low-riders, so we wouldn’t be surprised if more Tritons like this end up on public roads.

Rugged And Utilitarian Builds

The rest of the customized Tritons featured more useful modifications aimed at both leisure and work-related activities. A white-painted rugged truck with a bull bar, a snorkel, extra LEDs and a roof-mounted tent looks perfect for overlanding trips. Another camping-friendly example is the silver Triton with a canopy cover for the rear bed and a caravan trailer attached.

Among the more serious workhorse builds there was a box van, a spartan single-cab model with steelies, and a rugged example with off-road bumpers, grippy tires, and rear bed extensions so it can carry more stuff at the back.

All the purpose-built Tritons look cool, making it clear that Mitsubishi wants to offer as many options as possible. Besides the aftermarket parts which will be available for the truck, the automaker is already offering a few accessories highlighted on the official website. The Trail package retails for 40,000 baht ($1,174) and includes a sports bar, black fender extensions, window deflectors, and side steps while it can be optionally combined with a wheel and tire package.
