This article includes a speculative rendering of a Czinger SUV not endorsed by the company.

Czinger has suggested that it is working on a super SUV that will join the 21C as the firm’s second production model. If that’s the case, then it would hit the market before the Hyper GT sedan concept that the carmaker showcased at last year’s Monterey Car Week.

During a recent interview, company founder Kevin Czinger noted that the firm has a couple of vehicles in its pipeline. When pushed, he said that the firm is working on “off-road-on-road” vehicles but has not yet decided if the Hyper GT will be the first of these new models.

“There are a couple of vehicle models in the pipeline and so the next vehicle that we do may or may not be the Hyper GT,” he said. “We have one alternative vehicle we’re taking a hard look at right now.”

When asked by Autocar if the alternative was a super SUV, Czinger indicated it could be: “I can’t say, without really giving up the information. That’s probably a pretty good idea of what we’re going to do.”

If Czinger is indeed developing an SUV, then it is safe to assume that it will have the same powertrain as the 21C hypercar. This powertrain consists of a 2.88-liter twin-turbocharged flat-plane V8 that revs to 11,000 rpm. The engine can run on carbon-recycled methanol and other e-fuels. It is coupled to a seven-speed sequential transmission and electric motors at each front wheel and delivers 1,233 hp in standard guise.

The magazine suggests that the SUV could adopt a similar design to the Hyper GT but it would obviously sit slightly higher and will probably be a four-door.

Czinger says the new model will be produced exclusively in left-hand drive as a way to reduce production costs. Like the Hyper GT sedan, it will also be capped to just 1,000 examples and be built at the automaker’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

The company’s boss added that once these two new models hit the market, it will start to develop a hybrid powertrain and also work on an all-electric offering.
