We’ve already seen Mustang Mach-E police cars, but Ford is highlighting ambulances based on the electric pony car.
Despite sounding like an odd choice, the London Ambulance Service has 42 Fast Response Units which are all Mustang Mach-Es. The model was selected for a variety of reasons including the Service’s goal of having the “lowest emitting fleet of emergency vehicles possible.”
Of course, low emissions are secondary to the health and safety of patients. As a result, the Mach-E was appealing due to its performance and ability to complete a 12-hour shift without needing to be recharged.

Besides the livery and light bar, the crossovers are notable for having a SYNC Integration Module. It enables the 15.5-inch infotainment system to switch from a traditional vehicle display to a screen showing information from an ambulance computer that resides in the cargo compartment. This means the system can show emergency calls as well as relevant information as it comes in.
Putting technology aside, the Mach-E can carry most of the same equipment as a traditional ambulance. That being said, the Fast Response Units are designed to get paramedics on scene as quickly as possible as a few minutes can be the difference between life and death.
It’s not immediately clear which variant the ambulances are based on, but the Mustang Mach-E Premium seems like the most likely candidate as it has an extended range battery that enables the model to travel up to 372 miles (599 km) on a single charge. The rear-wheel drive U.K. variant has 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and this enables it to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.2 seconds.
