It’s no secret that Ford is targeting Jeep buyers with its own pair of off-road SUVs, the Bronco and the smaller Bronco Sport. However, the Blue Oval hasn’t had to do much more than offer the vehicles to attract customers. Until now.

Ford is telling dealers in certain areas to offer anyone who owns a Jeep (or who lives at the same address as someone who owns one) a $1,000 discount on a Bronco or Bronco Sport. Fascinatingly, this isn’t some trade-in incentive, Ford doesn’t want you to give up your Jeep, it just wants you to also have one of its off-roaders.

Naturally, there are some caveats, but they’re surprisingly chill. The biggest asterisk is that Ford is only offering this deal to buyers in certain areas, reports Cars Direct. The deal appears to be good in Chicago, New York, and Phoenix. Meanwhile, buyers in Dallas and Atlanta can only expect a $500 discount on their Bronco.

Although the incentive appears to be good for both 2024 and 2023 model year Broncos and Bronco Sports, there is one model Ford refuses to offer a deal on. It won’t surprise you to learn that the automaker thinks people (even those who already own a Jeep) will pay full price for the Bronco Raptor.

There are also some limitations to the Jeeps that Ford will recognize for this deal, but they’re pretty relaxed. In order to qualify, your Jeep has to be from the model year 1995 or later. However, as hinted at above, the vehicle doesn’t even have to be registered in your name. You may qualify for this discount if a family member owns a Jeep, but they have to live at the same address as you. And that’s it, it seems.

This is a noteworthy deal, not just because it’s kind of funny to see Ford targeting Jeep this directly, but also because the automaker hasn’t been offering many discounts lately. It’s been a seller’s market and dealers have happy to take advantage of that, so it’s interesting that the blue oval feels the need to start tempting buyers with deals.
