  • Costing around $109,000, the van has 778 hp and 436 miles of range.

Zeekr has introduced the 009 Grand, which is an ultra-luxury minivan with a passenger compartment that is likely nicer than your living room. It’s a fitting feature as the model is effectively a home away from home.

While the van follows in the footsteps of the regular model, it has a stainless steel grille that requires 30 hours of manual polishing. The Grand also rides on unique 20-inch forged disc wheels, which are subjected to ten processes and 20 hours of polishing before a laser etches 240 stripes onto them. Zeekr says this “ensures exquisite light reflection whether the vehicle is in motion or still.”

More interestingly, the van is the first vehicle to have “state-of-the-art LC light curtain glass.” It sounds like a high-tech version of electrochromic glass as it offers ten levels of adjustment and can dim in as little as 1.5 seconds. Furthermore, in its darkest state, the glass is virtually pitch black as there is only a light transmittance of 0.5%.

The real star is the rear passenger compartment, which is separated from the front by a partition wall. The latter is equipped with a 43-inch 4K LED display and is accompanied by a 31-speaker Yamaha surround sound system.

Elsewhere, there are two individual rear seats that are wrapped in aniline leather. They boast footrests and 24-way power adjustment as well as heating and massage functions.

The seats are separated by an elegant center console that sports crystal switchgear and an eight-inch touchscreen display. The console also houses retractable tables and a dual-level safe that is password protected.

A closer inspection reveals a flower vase as well as hand-polished marble sourced from the Himalayas. Buyers will also find an 18-liter compartment that has cooling and heating capabilities as well as an ultraviolet sterilization function. It can cool down to 21° F (-6° C) or heat up to 122° F (50° C).

Since privacy is the ultimate luxury, the van has a dedicated Privacy Mode. At the push of a crystal switch, it closes all of the windows while also darkening the glass and deploying the shade for the panoramic glass roof.

The focus on privacy continues elsewhere as the Grand has an Incognito Mode. After completing a trip, activating the mode will delete data connected to the journey. This includes navigation and call information as well as WiFi and Bluetooth data.

Power comes from a 108 kWh battery pack, which feeds a dual motor all-wheel drive system developing 778 hp (580 kW / 789 PS). It enables the van to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, which means it’s faster and more powerful than a Cadillac Escalade-V.

In terms of range, buyers can expect to travel 436 miles (702 km) in the CLTC cycle. Since waiting at an EV charging station is far from luxurious, the van can get over 311 miles (500 km) of range in as little as 12 minutes.

Other notable features include a “magic carpet” air suspension as well as a semi-autonomous driving system. The latter can be used on highways as well as entrance and exit ramps.

That brings us to the price tag, which begins at ¥789,000 ($108,973 / £87,955 / €102,258). While it’s not cheap, the van slots beneath the Lexus LM and Volvo EM90.
