• The VW ID.3 Pro S is now capable of faster charging thanks to a new battery pre-conditioning function.
  • Interior changes include the 12.9-inch infotainment already found in other VW models.
  • The more powerful electric motor makes 228 hp and is also more efficient than before.

Just one year after the debut of the facelifted VW ID.3, the automaker introduced a series of upgrades focused on the infotainment, equipment, and electric powertrain. The VW ID.3 Pro S gains a more powerful electric motor, while the entire lineup benefits from the latest infotainment, new features, and reduced charging times.

The ID.3 Pro S used to share the 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) electric motor with the rest of the lineup but is now boosted to 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS). The power increase is standard in Germany, while customers in other European markets can upgrade their EVs after the purchase, thanks to the new “power-on-demand” option.

The extra power drops the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint down to 7.1 seconds, 0.8 seconds faster than before. Furthermore, the efficiency of the electric motor has been improved, adding 13 km (8 miles) to the combined WLTP range which is now rated at 559 km (347 miles).

The 77 kWh battery pack of the ID.3 now offers a pre-conditioning function, taking it to the optimum temperature before charging. This allows it to charge by up to 175 kW DC, reducing charging times by “several minutes” especially in cold weather.

Moving inside, the ID.3 Pro S adopts the new 12.9-inch touchscreen display that has already found its way into newer members of the VW lineup like the ID.7. The display has fewer buttons and runs on the latest infotainment system featuring simplified menus, a smarter IDA voice assistant, and ChatGPT integration. Other interior changes include the familiar touch sliders, the relocated driving mode selector, and the slightly improved buttons on the steering wheel.

The company also enhanced the augmented reality head-up display of the ID.3. Furthermore, VW improved the safety equipment of the EV, adding the exit warning system, the optional Park Assist Plus, and an enhanced version of the Travel Assist.

Among the new features is the Wellness App with Fresh Up, Calm Down, and Power Break functions changing the lighting, sound, and air conditioning accordingly. Finally, there is an optional 480-watt audio system from Harman Kardon for audiophiles.

The VW ID.3 Pro S is already available to order in Germany, priced from €47,595 ($50,870) before incentives. Other trims will follow shortly, as with the flagship ID.3 GTX hot hatch which already came with the newer tech.
