Artificial intelligence is supposed to make things easier. Faster, too. What it’s not supposed to do is accidentally turn your marketing department into a billboard for the competition. Yet that’s exactly what appears to have happened at Ram. It didn’t just happen one time, either. For a brief time, the company was selling merch that had a truck on it that wasn’t a Ram of any sort.
As first highlighted by our friends at The Autopian, merchandise sold through Ram’s official online store featured images that look suspiciously like a Toyota Tacoma wearing a Ram badge. Even more awkwardly, some of the same AI-generated-looking artwork also appears to depict an American flag missing ten stars. Let’s take a deeper look.

The most obvious issue is the truck used on what Ram called a “2026 Ram Patriotic Unisex T-Shirt” that showed a pickup truck beneath a stylized American flag.
At first glance, it looks like a generic truck illustration. A closer inspection, however, reveals front-end styling that closely resembles a second-generation Toyota Tacoma, right down to the grille shape and headlight design. The artist, or more likely the AI image generator, appears to have simply slapped a RAM badge onto the front. The shirt is no longer available for purchase on the site.
A Flag Ten Stars Short
Then, there’s the flag. It correctly has five stars from top to bottom on the left, but then things go awry. Rather than the cross-hatch pattern on a real American flag, this one simply has five rows of eight stars. Eight multiplied by five is 40, not 50. Hilariously, Ram actually gets the flag right in a separate product, a 48-inch banner, but then also includes the Tacoma front and center.
That’s a pretty remarkable miss considering Ram’s entire business revolves around selling trucks. If there’s one vehicle an official Ram store should be able to identify correctly, it’s a Ram truck.
It’s unclear how exactly these mishaps got by Ram’s team, but they’re funny nonetheless. Now we just need Toyota to return the favor with some merch that features a Ram 1500 but says Tacoma on it. We’re not holding our breath on that.
