On New Year’s Day, Ram announced the 2027 Power Wagon would finally be offered with a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine developing 430 hp (321 kW / 436 PS) and 1,075 lb-ft (1,456 Nm) of torque. Fans had been asking for a diesel-powered variant for an eternity and it arrives soon for $88,470 including destination.
A few months later, the company followed up with the 2500 Emergency Response Vehicle. It’s America’s first pursuit-capable heavy duty pickup truck and features a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 405 hp (302 kW / 411 PS) and 429 lb‑ft (581 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 8.4 seconds, before topping out at 103 mph (166 km/h).

While those are the big additions for 2027, Ram has now detailed the remaining updates. They’re relatively minor, but customers can look forward to improved capability, a few styling tweaks, and expanded options.
Starting with brawn, regular and crew cab versions (with 6’ 4” bed) of the 3500 4×4 SRW with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 have a higher payload capacity as well as a bigger Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. Both climb 400 lbs (181 kg) and the GVWR now stands at 11,440 lbs (5,189 kg).
Most versions of the 2500 with the 6.4‑liter V8 can be equipped with a new Payload Upgrade Package. It costs $835 and includes a “3500 frame, leaf springs, and anti-spin rear differential.” That sounds like a bargain and the package increases the GVWR from 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg) to 11,040 lbs (5,008 kg), meaning the truck now has a best-in-class payload capacity of 4,580 lbs (2,077 kg).
On the styling front, there isn’t much to report but V8-powered models now come equipped with Symbol of Protest badges on the front fenders. Shoppers will also find two new colors known as Serrano Green Metallic and Tank Clear-Coat.
The changes don’t end there as the Sport Appearance and Night Edition packages now have greater availability, while the sport performance hood is now available as a standalone option on the Rebel and Power Wagon. Speaking of the Rebel and Power Wagon, a Warn electric winch is now offered as a standalone option that no longer requires customers to get the Level 1 Equipment Group.
An anti-spin rear differential becomes a standalone option on the value-focused Tradesman, while the luxurious Laramie offers newly optional body-color fender flares as well as expanded RamBox availability.
