Maserati is currently struggling, but the company has a glorious history and filmmakers have decided to explore it in Maserati: The Brothers.
The film is “coming soon,” from the producer of Ferrari and Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend. The former movie was decent and has a 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while the Lamborghini flick was a trainwreck with a 6% rating.

What that means for the Maserati movie remains unclear, but it has an all-star cast that includes Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino, and Andy García. According to IMDB, they’ll be joined by Salvatore Esposito (Bindo Maserati), Matteo Bassi (Ettore Maserati), Michele Morrone (Alfieri Maserati), and Lorenzo de Moor (Carlo Maserati). Furthermore, an actor named Leo Ferrari will be playing Ernesto Maserati.
Little is known about the film at this point, but the synopsis says it “chronicles the Maserati family’s journey, from its founding in 1914 to becoming a renowned Italian luxury car manufacturer, alongside rivals Ferrari and Lamborghini.”
The early years are clearly on display in the trailer as we can see the relationship between the brothers as well as their romantic interests. It then leans heavily into racing and foreshadows the brand’s win at the Indianapolis 500 in 1939 and 1940. From there, it shows a grieving Jessica Alba, close calls, and an accident that ends in an explosion.
While there’s a lot going on, Car & Driver reports the movie primarily focuses on the lives of Alfieri, Bindo, and Carlo Maserati. They added the movie is being directed by Robert Moresco, who also helmed the earlier Lamborghini misfire.
