The second generation of the Chevrolet Trax has been a success story for GM, scoring strong sales since its debut in 2023. The automaker is now preparing a facelift for the 2027 model year, and an undisguised prototype reveals most of the planned updates.
Our spy photographers have recently caught the production-ready Trax sitting in a parking lot without any sign of camouflage. The entry-level crossover remains instantly recognizable, but a closer look reveals a few notable styling tweaks.

The front end adopts a redesigned bumper, ditching the chrome trim of the current model. Furthermore, the lower section of the split LED headlights switched from a vertical to a horizontal layout and is now connected to the main honeycomb grille. These are joined by reshaped bumper intakes, with the pictured model being the RS trim.
As with most mid-lifecycle updates, the sheet metal on the profile remains untoutched. However, the automaker has big changes in store for the rear end.

The Trax gains a set of longer taillights, similar to other Chevrolet models. While it doesn’t have a full-width LED strip like the Equinox EV, the lights are connected via a black trim piece. The rear bumper is also revised, with cleaner surfacing on the plastic cladding and a much smaller skid plate.
Our spy photographers didn’t get a look inside the cabin this time, but based on earlier sightings, the facelifted 2027 Trax will benefit from a few interior upgrades. Those could include new trim options and a flat digital instrument cluster that’s better integrated with the infotainment display. The latter might become standard equipment across all trims.
Under the hood, the 2027 Chevrolet Trax is expected to retain the same non-electrified powertrain. The turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine of the outgoing model offers 137 hp (102 kW / 139 PS) and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Judging from the state of the prototype, an official debut might be just around the corner, ahead of an imminent market launch for the 2027 model year. The current Trax is priced from $21,700, and the newcomer will likely retain its place as the most affordable model in the Chevy lineup.
