- PRS, Land Rover Defender and John Mayer launched special guitars.
- The instruments use eight shades from the Defender’s color palette.
- US-made guitars cost $3,200, and overseas SE line is priced at $999.
If you are a John Mayer fan who plays the guitar and happens to own a Defender, we’ve got some exciting news for you. PRS Guitars and Land Rover’s Defender sub-brand teamed up with the popular artist to launch the Silver Sky Defender Color Collection. This means you can finally get an electric guitar that matches the color of your British off-roader, as long as the latter is painted in one of the eight colors that made the cut.
The collection is split into two tiers, targeting different types of customers. The flagship PRS Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition is capped at 500 units per color (2,000 total), with production taking place in Maryland, US and retailers offering them at a price of $3,200.

Buyers have a choice between Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red, and Sandglow Yellow, taken from the color palette of the classic Defender and combined with white knobs and matching details. John Mayer is a proud owner of an Arles Blue Defender 90 with a white roof, so we already know which one he will be grabbing to nail his next Wild Blue solo.
Each guitar ships in a Defender-branded hard case and features an engraved neckplate. This carries the Land Rover Defender logo, Silver Sky and John Mayer lettering, the official name of its color, and the serial number.
PRS Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition
If you want a similar treat but you are short on money, PRS offers the more affordable SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition guitars which are priced at $999. These ones are built in Indonesia and they are not capped by volume, although orders will close in mid-2027.

The SE is available in Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey, and Woolstone Green colors, inspired from the modern Defender. They also get black knobs and details instead of white, mirroring the blacked-out trim options of the SUV. Finally, buyers will receive a complimentary Defender gig bag instead of a hard case.
The electric guitars with the Land Rover shades are available to pre-order, following a preview at the Destination Defender event in California earlier this month. PRS is also building a limited number of guitars finished in British Racing Green, but those will be reserved for fundraising efforts supporting the Defender Service Awards and John Mayer’s own Heart and Armor Foundation charity for veterans.
