Thought You Had A Bad Day? At Least You Didn't Crash A Bugatti Like This Guy

Bugatti built just 500 examples of the legendary Chiron, and cars like these generally live pampered lives, racking up very few miles and spending most of their time parked in collections. We suspect the owner of this blacked-out Chiron is now regretting not leaving the car sitting at home and collecting dust.

The French hypercar was crashed while driving in Miami earlier this week, leaving it with damage that will be extraordinarily expensive to repair. It's unclear exactly how the crash happened, but footage shared on social media shows the Chiron sitting on the side of the road and the rear half resting on the curb.

Evidently, the driver lost control of the car on the wet roads and appears to have either spun around or slid across the pavement, stopping just a couple of feet away from a large tree. It's difficult to ascertain the full extent of the damage based on the video, but the only obvious damage done to the bodywork seems to be at the front, where the lower part of the bumper and the splitter have been cracked and split.

Fixing this damage won't be cheap

Most of the damage appears restricted to the rear. The passenger-side rear wheel has been pushed out of position, indicating some serious suspension damage. The car's undertray has likely taken a heavy hit, and one of the front wheels also appears trashed.

Popular car YouTuber Mat Armstrong has offered the world an interesting insight into the world of Bugatti throughout his rebuild of a crash-damaged Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport in the U.S. over the past year. Unsurprisingly, the automaker doesn't want owners repairing their cars by themselves, so it won't sell this owner any of the parts needed to repair the car. The owner's best bet would be to go through their insurance company (presuming they're insured) and to have the Chiron repaired at a certified Bugatti center. If they don't want to do that, Armstrong appears willing to buy the car, commenting on the Instagram post that he has "Cash waiting..."
