Ford has announced a series of 2027 model year updates for the Mustang Mach-E, six years after its debut. The fully electric crossover gains a new Trail Package, tailored for light off-roading adventures. It also comes standard with the extended-range battery and is offered at a better starting price compared to the equivalent version of its predecessor.

Starting with the hidden upgrades, the smaller 73 kWh battery pack has been discontinued from the lineup. The Select and Premium grades feature the 88 kWh battery, with the GT and Rally trims getting the slightly larger 91 kWh unit.

Ford didn't announce range figures for 2027, but the estimates for 2026 are indicative of what to expect. The eAWD versions of the Select and Premium trims offer a 300-mile range, the RWD is good for 320 miles, the performance-focused GT can travel 280 miles, and the Rally is limited to 255 miles.

Furthermore, the company developed a redesigned front electric motor matching the performance of the previous unit while being cheaper to produce.

The Mach-E Trail is ready for adventure

The highlight of the 2027 model year is the addition of the Trail Package, available as an option for the Select eAWD trim. This is designed for buyers who love adventures but can't afford the flagship Rally trim.

Visually, the Mach-E Trail s distinguished by the Carbon Black trim on the front bumper and the 19-inch High Gloss Dark Carbonized Gray alloy wheels sourced from the Mach-E Rally, which are shod in the same Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires. More importantly, the Trail Package includes a revised suspension setup with a 10 mm (0.4 inches) lift at the front axle and 15 mm (0.6 inches) lift at the rear, and features the steering rack from the Rally.

Inside, there is a Trail logo embossed on the central armrest, and an optional Interior Protection Package adds all-weather floor mats and a cargo cover. Furthermore, the standard 400W Pro Power Onboard system adds outlets at the back and in the cargo area for charging electronic devices and powering camping gear.

Buyers of the Mach-E Trail will receive 100,000 Ford Rewards points, on top of the standard 22,000 points, which can be used for outdoor accessories, parts, or merchandise. Those with overlanding aspirations can spend their money on the optional Clamp On Cross Bar Kit by Thule, designed to carry bikes, kayaks, or extra gear.

Other upgrades for 2027

On the technology front, the latest BlueCruise 1.5 hands-free highway driving system is standard on the GT and Rally models, including a one-year plus 90-day service plan. The same tech is optional on the Select and Premium trims, as well as the Select-based Trail. Meanwhile, the Ford Connectivity and Security Packages are now standard across the lineup with one year of service, or offered as a one-time purchase option.

The 2027 Mustang Mach-E is priced from $42,040 for the new Select RWD trim, including destination and delivery. This is more expensive than the starting price of the 2026 MY, but offers a cheaper entry point into the extended-range battery. Pricing for the rest of the lineup will be announced at a later date, with order books opening on October 22.

The Trail Package costs $2,295, and the first deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2027.

Nick Rallis, Lead Mustang Mach-E Vehicle Integration Engineer at Ford said: "Together, they make Mustang Mach-E Trail capable for off-pavement driving, whether that's loose gravel, sand, or a two-track dirt road, with a significant traction benefit in winter conditions as well. It's built for all-season, off-pavement excursions, so customers headed to a trailhead, a campsite, or everyday driving through changing weather get real added confidence."
