Toyota Snowhunter Concepts Ready To Conquer The Inevitable A.I.-Induced Nuclear Winter
Every year, major automotive OEMs, tuners, and accessory manufacturers descend on Las Vegas for the SEMA Show. Although tuned exotics and muscle cars often turn the most heads, some brands love to let their hair down for SEMA, and Toyota has done just that. Seemingly for no reason other than the fun of it, it has unveiled five wild off-roaders with snow tracks, known as the Snowhunter concepts. Toyota will absolutely not sell these vehicles to the public, which is a shame.
Toyota brought the five concepts, based on the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Sequoia, to life at its CALTY Design Research facility in Michigan. The modifications go beyond the fitment of snow tracks, as they all feature other adventure-ready accessories. While none of these SEMA-bound vehicles have any chance of making it to production, we suspect Toyota's designers would be quite giddy if a brave Toyota owner took inspiration from these concepts to create their own tracked vehicle to cross the Arctic Circle.
Snow-themed wraps and wild accessories
Of the five concepts, the Tundra Snowhunter Concept is perhaps the most important. Beyond the tracks, it also features the Toyota TrailLift Pro Rack System, which transforms the bed with a rugged frame, storage options, and an articulating rack that's said to make it easier to load bikes, kayaks, and other gear onto the roof. If any feature of these concepts reaches the production line, it should probably be this. It's not the craziest custom Tundra we've ever seen, but it would be immensely practical during the next Snowpocalypse.
The special Sequoia Snowhunter Concept rocks cast aluminum running boards, a TRD front skid plate, a Prinsu roof rack, and a Thule Pulse 2 cargo box. Similarly, Toyota's one-off Land Cruiser Snowhunter Concept has the same roof rack, a Thule SnowPack ski rack, and Toyota Genuine rock rails and skid plates.
Toyota says the Tacoma model has been specifically configured for tight winter trails, noting the snow tracks are complemented a roof rack, a full-length bed rack, an awning, cargo storage, bed lighting, and dedicated recovery equipment. The collection is completed by the 4Runner concept, which also uses Toyota rack rails, a Prinsu roof rack, and a Thule cargo box. All models share an eye-catching white paint with grey geometric patterns, perfect for the snowy environments these wild off-roaders are designed to thrive in.
