eBay Seller Accepting Deposits on…2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7

|

The eBay is a wonderful place to look around and do some online shopping, just as long as you don't get duped… Fortunately, there are some telltale signs that can help you separate the real deals from the duds.

As pointed out by Motorauthority that discovered a vendor on eBay accepting a deposit on the yet to be revealed, let alone produced, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7, the seller named 'shawn4842 'appears to be a private party and not a dealership.

We're going to add that the photos escorting the sale are illustrations made by artist Radovan Varicak for Car&Driver and do not depict the real car – something that should raise another red flag.

Not so amusingly for the 13 bidders up until now, the seller says he (or she) is accepting payments with a 10 percent nonrefundable deposit.

Here's what 'shawn4842' says:

"You are bidding on a new 2014 Chevrolet corvette. You add the options you want. This is your chance to be one of the very first owners of a 2014 corvette. This is the deposit only. remaining balance is due when car arrives. There is a 10% nonrefundable deposit. deposit payment is due at end of auction."

It really doesn't sink in when I think about it... how can anyone be so stupid?

360 MILLION PEOPLE  are sure to produce enough gullable people to make this scam sucessful.
Look at all the Americans that think dinasaurs roamed the earth 5, 000 years ago, evolution is not a fact, global warming is a Democratic scheme, and that the Republicans care about YOU. (mind you, if the Republicans don't take care of the rich, who will?)

Ultimately, there are suckers everywhere; it's the who people capitalize on their naiveity that are the criminals.

The eBay poster is an idiot. He becomes a (criminal) genius if he manages to convince just one buyer to even put up his 10%.

The 'Seller' is courting a date with the Feds.  They will go after this with a vengeance.

Several year ago, a friend of mine bid on and won a 56' Corvette on e-Bay. The seller sold it to three other buyers.  The car didn't exist.   He now resides in a Federal pen.  But my friend is still without his funds.

I'm the fourth 'Like' in support of 'random political garbage'.

Hilarious post Hugh, but, apparently, some were not amused... no sense of humor is a serious situation.  Maybe a therapist should be employed.

18 bidders now, lol but it is ok, BECAUSE the seller has a 100percent feedback score so ebay says he is for real and a good seller. LOL EBAY IS HOOKED ON CRACK and those bidders are going get taken to the cleaners thanks to ebay policies that a seller with a 100 postive feedback score is a trusted seller..

ebays responce when u report this seller

Your report is just one factor we review. To determine the action we take, we'll consider the type of violation you're reporting and how it may impact other eBay members. If the listing doesn't follow our guidelines, it may be removed. However, in some cases, the listing may stay on eBay, and we may contact the member to provide training. We also may place limits on the member's ability to buy or sell on eBay. To protect the privacy of all of our members, we're unable to share the action we take.

The article was about cars? I thought it was about a scam. Hope you don't lose your deposit.

As I read it...the 10% is at the END of the auction.  And it is so that the person will hopefully come through with the rest of the money for the car...if they don't, the seller will have the 10% of the bid and have to sit on the car until he finds another buyer.  Sounds fair/right to me.

I agree, the average American is pretty stupid. Some even believe the democrats care for the common man! That is as likely as Republicans honoring their promises and our current president shutting Guantanamo or repealing the patriot act like he promised. It is all too comical.

Like the stupid people who bought the shipping box for the  X-Box when the X-boxes were just released and were selling hot and at a premium...

"You are bidding on the X-Box Box."
