SsangYong will reveal a new concept car at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. Called the XLV Concept (eXciting smart Lifestyle Vehicle), the study is an evolution of the 2011 XIV-1 concept and likely previews a future production small crossover.

The XLV is 4,430mm (174.4in) long, 1,845mm (72.6in) wide and 1,600mm (63in) tall, which makes it 290mm (11.4in) longer than the XIV-1 concept. Thanks to the increased length and the 2,600mm (102.3in) wheelbase, the study offers room for seven passengers in an innovative 2+2+2+1 arrangement, where the seventh seat slides between the second and third rows for optimum flexibility.

The Korean carmaker says the XLV emits significantly less CO2 thanks to its mild hybrid system that combines a 1.6-liter diesel engine with an electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery.

Design-wise, the XLV concept looks like an evolution of the XIV-1, with SsangYong saying it showcases the brand’s new styling philosophy called “Nature born 3 motion”, thanks to its “rhythmical and dynamic exterior design.” We’ll definitely learn more about the study and see photos of the real car as the Geneva Motor Show draws nearer.
