Here’s a quick update on the “Dubai Roadster” concept that was making the internet rounds on Thursday. Having questioned the reports that claimed it was “the brainchild of an unnamed Emirati racer,” one of our readers nicknamed Superl rose to the occasion and pointed us towards the right direction.

The concept is the original work of French industrial designer and former employ of GM’s European Design Center, Anthony Colard, who initially created the Ducati-inspired DesmoSedici RR for a Local Motors contest back in 2009, before he made changes to the car and re-named it to AC 5-28 Mont Ventoux.

It is the AC 5-28 Mont Ventoux that you see with the “Dubai Expo 2020” decals in the previous set of photos. Whether Colard made the changes himself or if someone else took the liberty of repainting the roadster, remains unknown at this time.

According to Colard, the name AC 5-28 Mont Ventoux stands for “Anthony Colard 500hp 2800cc and the Mont Ventoux is one of the oldest and most famous hill climb races in France”.
