Fiat released the pricing and the range details for the UK market of its updated Cinquecento or 500 if you prefer plain English.

The new 500 is the single, most important model Fiat has right now on its range, having sold more than 1.5million units over a period of 8 years. The facelift didn’t bring any design overhauls as expected, with the shape remaining one of the most successful retro revivals in recent motoring history.

A set of new light clusters all around and other subtle changes were deemed more than enough for the exterior. Fiat claims though no fewer than 1,800 changes to have been made in the transition from the old-new 500 to the new-new 500.

The customer now can choose between six special pastel shades, five metallic colors and one tri-coat Urban White finish. For those who want even more, Fiat offers the ‘Second Skin’ programme which basically allows you to customize the appearance of your 500, which includes two black-yellow and black-red variants and comes with two options: a geometric pattern along the belt line only and a larger ‘skin’ option which covers the upper half of the body on hardtop models.

The interior now gains an integrated Uconnect infotainment system across the range, with the option of voice-activated TomTom satellite navigation to be priced at £600 on Pop and Pop Star models and at £350 on Lounge models. The circular instrument cluster retains its analogue gauges with a seven-inch TFT display to be offered as a £250 option on Lounge models.

The interior trim comes now in 10 different color combinations with Frau Leather upholstery also available. The centre console is also revised with new cup holders, relocated USB/Aux-in ports and 12V power socket while Fiat has added more soundproofing for better refinement and comfort.

The Euro-6 compliant engines are offered with five- and six-speed manual gearboxes, with the option of a Dualogic robotised gearbox. The engines available at launch include the 69hp 1.2-litre and the two-cylinder turbocharged Twin Air in 85 and 105hp guises. The latter will is the most potent version of the new 500, with 0-62mph in 10.0 seconds and a 117mph top speed, until the Abarth versions arrive sometime later this year.

Mopar has already released a full range of accessories for those who want to customize even more their Cinquencento, offering vintage-style wheels, various decals and even chrome roof moldings.

The new Fiat 500 will arrive in the UK market in early September with prices starting at £10,890 for the 1.2-litre version.
