On paper, the Peugeot 308 GTi is a strong contender in the hot hatch class, with a power output of 270 PS and a 0-100 km/h / 0-62 mph time of six seconds dead.

The automaker wants to assure us that is its acceleration time, so it’s released a reconfirmation teaser / commercial. Only thing is now we don’t care about the GTi any more, and the 308 we really want to know more about is the R-Hybrid, or just plain R if it’s not going to be the hybrid…

You may remember we posted a couple of photos of Peugeot CEO Maxime Picat climbing aboard what looked like a camouflaged version of the 308 R-Hybrid. Officials remained silent about why the photos were posted, and even if it’s not the hybrid we anticipated, it will definitely be faster than the GTi.

Even so, the GTi marks Peugeot’s return to the hot hatch segment en force after having launched the peppy 208 GTi some two years ago.
