Just because Mercedes-Benz changed the name of its ML SUV to GLE does not mean it’s an all-new model, as the automaker’s US arm claims in this “video brochure”.

The truth is we’re talking about a facelifted model, but that doesn’t mean the differences are not significant.

While exterior styling tweaks are limited to a new front end and retouched taillights, the interior gets a new steering wheel while the center console features a new 7.0-inch free-standing screen for the infotainment system controlled through a touch-sensitive controller. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE also packs a series of driver assist technologies which are detailed in the video.

In the US, the GLE is available in six versions: GLE 350, GLE 350 4Matic, GLE 300D 4Matic, GLE 400 4Matic, AMG GLE 63 and AMG GLE 63 S Performance. In spring 2016, Mercedes-Benz will also add the GLE 550e Plug-In Hybrid to the lineup.

Head down to learn the essentials about the 2016 GLE from the so-called video brochure.
