One of the best vehicles to ever wear the Mercedes badge was the 300 SL.
Produced in just over 3,000 units in two body styles, coupe and roadster, the classic Merc’ was the fastest production car of its day with its 3.0-liter engine delivering more than 210hp to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox.
Needless to say, its design remains iconic, especially with those ‘gullwing doors’ on the coupe that gave its nickname. This is the car that inspired the Mercedes SLR McLaren and the newer SLS AMG, but is it as good as they say?
