McLaren has set an annual sales record for the sixth consecutive year with it shifting 1,654 cars last year across 30 markets.

Last year, the British supercar manufacturer introduced five new models. It started out at the Geneva Motor Show in March with the release of the track-focused P1 GTR and 675LT Coupe models. Limited to just 50 and 500 units respectively, the two models sit atop their individual model series, the Ultimate Series and Super Series.

At the New York show the following month, the McLaren Sports Series was introduced with the 570S and entry-level 540C. The 570S has already received universal acclaim from a host of reviewers and by the end of 2017, two new bodystyles in the Sports Series will be released. Closing out 2015 for McLaren was the release of the 675LT Spider in December.

Alongside the bump in vehicle sales, the company’s global retailer network grew with 12 new dealerships being opened around the world.

On the back of its 2015 successes, the carmaker has added a second shift at the McLaren Production Centre, resulting in an extra 250 jobs.

According to chief executive of McLaren Automotive Mike Flewitt “2015 was a year of rapid expansion for McLaren Automotive.  When the company was set up in 2010, we set ourselves an ambition to launch one new car every year.  In 2015, we launched five!  This accelerated development has led to yet another record year, with unprecedented levels of demand for all of our cars, especially the new Sports Series, for which we are currently holding more than six months worth of orders.”
