Select variants of the Opel and Vauxhall’s Adam city car are now offered with smartphone wireless charging technology.

The charger is compatible with the “Qi” and “Powermat” interface standards and it has been fitted in the center console, right in front of the gear lever.

The tech allows users to recharge their phone’s battery through an electromagnetic field, which reduces clutter and the need for cables. All you have to do is simply place the device on the integrated charger and the battery will begin charging wireless, immediately.

Our award-winning, smartphone-compatible IntelliLink infotainment technology made its premiere in the Opel ADAM, which is the perfect example of how much individuality and technology can be packed into a small car. And now with wireless charging as well as Opel OnStar, we are taking successful lifestyle mini to an even higher level“, commented Opel’s VP of Sales and Aftersales, Christian Kuspert.

The wireless charging technology is offered from €135 ($153), as an option on all versions of the Adam family, except for the base model, which costs €13,850 ($15,665), tax included, in Germany.
