While the revamped Top Gear and its new hosts are putting together the show, not without a few setbacks, things seem to be looking up for the man that used to be The Stig.

Ever since he handed over the white overalls and helmet, he has appeared on Fifth Gear a few times, was hired by automakers to drive their cars and even published a book.

Now he has joined forces with Goodwood Road & Racing to test some of the most interesting rides of the moment.

The first sports car Collins get to drive in this new partnership is the 570S, the model that launched McLaren’s Sports Series. The 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that’s used in all modern McLarens has been detuned, putting out 562 HP (570 PS) instead of the 650S’ 641 HP (650 PS) to distance the entry level supercars from the more upmarket ones.

Accelerating from zero to sixty takes just 3.1 seconds and it reaches 100 mph (161 km/h) in 6.3 seconds. But is it really that good as McLaren says? Well, we won’t spoil that answer, because you have to hear what “The Stig” has to say about it.

Besides taking a short spin in the McLaren 570S, Ben Collins will also review the Audi R8 V10 Plus and the BMW M2, in the upcoming videos that will be released by Goodwood.
