What appears to be an official press picture of Renault’s all-new large SUV that may or may not be named Maxthon, as some reports suggest, has appeared online.

There’s no questioning that the image matches what we’ve seen so far from camouflaged prototypes of the Renault, with the SUV taking styling cues from both the Kadjar crossover and the Talisman mid-size model. It has been reported that, despite its size, it will only offer seating for five.

A rival to the likes of Hyundai’s Santa Fe, Honda CR-V and Skoda’s future SUV, the Renault model is based on partner Nissan’s X-Trail, with which it should share a similar range of turbocharged four-cylinder engines available in both front- and all-wheel drive layouts.

The French firm’s large SUV will reportedly be unveiled next week at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show and will be produced locally at a new joint-venture factory going on sale in China before the end of the year. Even though the People’s Republic will be its main target, a broader international launch, which will likely include Europe, is pegged for 2017.

We’ll find out more tomorrow, after the scheduled announcement from Renault.
