In order for US buyers to take advantage of all the safety features a modern-day Nissan has, they need to purchase select models that can take over when the driver isn’t paying sufficient attention.

At the heart of their Safety Shield tech lies the Predictive Forward Collision Warning system, which constantly monitors not just the car ahead, but also the vehicle in front of that car.

As shown in the demonstration video, if the system detects a sudden deceleration, it will give the driver an audible warning, and in some cases even a visual signal on the instrument panel.

Should a collision seem imminent, the system will even bring the car to a complete stop – which can avoid the collision altogether or at least decrease the severity of the impact, as Nissan puts it.

Also part of the ‘Safety Shield’ is the Blind Spot Warning system which to be fair is a very well-known technology in today’s automotive world, but when it comes to Nissan vehicles, you can get an additional alert on the dash if your car comes with the Advanced Drive Assist Display.

As for the Intelligent Cruise Control feature, it works pretty much like all similar systems, slowing the car down, maintaining speed and even stopping when needed.
