As one of the world’s first mass produced cars, the Ford Model T set the stage for all the cars that have followed since. In total, almost 15 million were produced and for his latest clip, Jay Leno got behind the wheel of one.

This particular Model T is from 1927 and has been completely restored and upgraded by its owner, Clayton Paddison. While many Model T’s have been converted into hardcore hotrods in recent decades, this one retains the roots of the original but with some modifications to improve its performance and make it more suitable for 21st century driving.

What this means is that the car’s four-cylinder engine now comes complete with a high-compression cylinder dead, a custom intake with dual carburettors and an exhaust manifold from the Model A. The T’s two-speed gearbox has also been replaced by a more advanced three-speed transmission, geared to allow for a top speed in excess of 60 mph (96 km/h).

If you’re a fan of classic cars, this is certainly the video to watch.
