With the GLE Coupe aimed at BMW‘s X6 and the GLC Coupe competing against the X4, a GLA Coupe would have been aimed at a possible X2, which has been rumored more than once.

However, Mercedes-Benz seems to have made a mistake by announcing the latter in its road map, as an updated version of the image that is still carefully tucked away into Daimler’s first half of the year sales no longer sees a GLA Coupe, which has been replaced by a facelifted variant.

The tip of the hat goes to Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog, who managed to spot the German manufacturer’s update in no time. The refreshed road map will surely arouse suspicion whether the brand has made a mistake, a GLA Coupe is actually part of its future lineup and wasn’t supposed to show up that early or if this was indeed an old file and the project was canned at some point.

As for the tweaked crossover that shares most underpinnings with the A-Class and CLA lineup, changes are expected to be limited at the visual front, while inside, it could receive an upgraded infotainment system with a larger display, joined by MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity. The list of upgrades could end in the engine compartment where, if it will stay true to its hatchback sibling, then it could also receive a new entry-level model, powered by a 102 PS (101 HP) 1.6-liter engine, which has yet to be confirmed.
