According to Audi USA the 2017 A4 Ultra is the most efficient premium saloon in its segment, with a 31mpg (7,5 l/100km) combined fuel economy rating.

Thanks to its 2.0-liter TFSI petrol-powered engine putting down 190 PS and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque, the punchy yet economic A4 Ultra is capable of not only hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in 7.1 seconds, but also of averaging an EPA-estimated 27mpg (8.7 l/100km) in the city and 37mpg (6.3 l/100km) on the highway.

What makes the A4 ultra’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine so efficient is a combustion method with shorter compression and longer-expansion phases. The compression ratio went from 9.6:1 to 11.7:1, thus improving the engine’s efficiency, and also allowing for better power and torque delivery.

Inside, the A4 ultra is available with Audi’s virtual cockpit, optional MMI all-in-touch and the newly available in-car Audi connect infotainment and security features with 4G LTE connectivity. Safety-wise, customers get Audi pre sense basic and city, plus Audi pre sense rear and Audi side assist as standard.

Other features include the LED daytime running lights, dynamic LED taillights, standard 17″ 5-parallel spoke design wheels, xenon plus headlights, plus a refined interior with ambient LED lighting as standard, leather seating surfaces and a three-zone automatic climate control system.

Priced at $34,900 in Premium trim and $38,700 in Premium Plus, the front-wheel drive 2017 Audi A4 ultra compares favorably (in terms of efficiency) to its direct rivals from BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and Volvo, according to the Ingolstadt-based automaker.
