Known as the Fairlady Z in Japan, the 350Z was Nissan’s fifth-gen Z-car, manufactured by the company from 2002 to 2009. It was (and still is) widely regarded as a capable sports car, gaining a massive following due to its looks and tune-able 3.5-litre V6.
But this one is different, mainly because it pushes the model out of its comfort zone. Or does it?
We use to acknowledge the 350Z as a drift machine, track muncher, or “street weapon”, but the Z line-up has a heritage in rallying just as much as it has a reputation to maintain in the aforementioned sectors. Back in the early 1970s, the Datsun rally cars were making headlines in motorsport, as the 240Z models won the overall victory, class victory, team victory and manufacturer’s championship in the world’s most grueling sports car event – The East African Safari Rally. Twice!
In January 1972, the No.5 240Z driven by R. Aaltonen and J. Todt came 3rd overall in the 41st Rallye Monte-Carlo. There, now you have an excuse to like this lifted, off-road-ready 350Z as well.
By the looks of it, the car has been fitted with a winch-equipped heavy-duty off-road bumper, a LED bar on the roof, and probably lots of underbody protection. According to the owner, the 350Z will even get a snorkel, which will definitely complete the army-inspired, zombie-surviving look.
