The most powerful Audi TT ever to enter series production, the TT RS, is getting ready to touch UK soil in November, two months after it will go on sale in Europe’s right-hand drive market.

Available from £51,800 ($68,700) as a Coupe and £53,550 ($71,020) as a Roadster, the all-new model that celebrated its premiere at the Beijing Motor show earlier this year has dropped 26 kg (57 lbs) over its predecessor and uses a newly-developed 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder with the brand’s Valvelift technology and dual injection.

The unit is 17 percent more powerful than the previous generation, upping the output from 340 PS (335 HP) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque to an impressive 400 PS (394 HP) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. This translates into a naught to sixty-two miles per hour (100 km/h) sprint made in 3.7 seconds in the Coupe and 3.9 seconds in the Roadster. Top speed is electronically capped at 155 mph (250 km/h) in both versions, but it can be raised to 174 mph (280 km/h) with the optional Dynamic Package Plus.

Power is channeled to the brand’s Quattro all-wheel drive system through a seven-speed S tronic transmission, whose weight has been reduced by around 2 kg (4.4 lbs). Its shift characteristics can be tailored to the user’s requirements through the Audi Drive Select adaptive dynamics system, which offers Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, and Individual modes.

Audi offers the new TT RS with a choice of nine standard colors, which can be combined with optional matt aluminum and gloss black styling packages. Making the sports car even more expensive is a set of 20-inch wheels, offered at an extra cost on top of the standard 19-inch ones, and the Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) taillights, which make their Audi series production debut on the TT RS, and are available as an alternative to the standard LED rear lights.
