The 911 Turbo has been the one of the pinnacles of Porsche’s 911 line-up, and an intimidating car throughout the years. Here’s what Chris Harris thinks of the latest ‘Turbo S’ model.

Compared to the previous variants, the updated 991 version is more civilized. Long gone are the days when the Turbo delivered its power in one big lump (no thanks to the turbo-lag) and differentiated  man from boys, but don’t go on thinking the latest one isn’t walking in its ancestor’s footsteps.

Chris Harris calls the model an enigma and a “blunt instrument”, since it never really offered the same level of driving involvement like its RS counterparts – even though it boasted ridiculous amounts of power. So what did Porsche do with the latest model? The German car company made it more powerful and even faster, obviously.

Sadly, in Harris’ latest video, the Porsche was tested at a higher altitude with questionable fuel added into its tank, so the presenter couldn’t really tell if there is a significant performance gap with the outgoing model.

Even so, compared to its current, newly turbocharged siblings, the 911 Turbo S retains its distinctive character and panache. It’s also faster than a 911 R and an RS, while still being the easiest car to live with. What more do you want?
